at a luncheon May 7 at the As-
toria Golf and Country Club.
The award is given to honor

Operation School Bell program
in a chapter’s community. The
Assistance League’s signature
program provides a coat or

school counselors as needing
school clothing.
ALCP and the Seaside
OshKosh B’Gosh store have
worked together for several
years to help these children.
Last year the store collected
297 pairs of jeans in their “Jea-
nius” promotion, and came in
third in the nation in the Opera-
tion School Bell campaign.
OshKosh has also donat-
ed hats, gloves and jeggings,
plus several bags of unsellable
clothing that only needed a
wash or slight repair. ALCP
furnished clothing to 606
Clatsop County schoolchil-
dren in the 2014-15 school

Association of University Wom-
en (AAUW) has announced the
2015 recipient of the Seaside
AAUW June Stromberg Schol-
arship Award: Daniela Elizabeth
Anguiano.
Anguiano, who was born in
Mexico, lives in Seaside. She
learned English as a second
language while enrolled in the

Elementary School. Today, she
volunteers there as a teenage

of her family to graduate from
high school, and joined 96 oth-
er students in the class of 2015

She works part-time along-
side her parents at Gearhart
Ocean Inn.
She has always taken learn-
ing seriously, and has aided her
two younger siblings in their
mastery of English.
