Calvary Episcopal
SEASIDE — The Rev. Diane Hig-
gins, deacon, was a volunteer during
the 78th General Convention of the
Episcopal Church recently held in
Salt Lake City. She is speaking Sun-
day about her experiences and her
impressions of the convention during
the Forum Hour, which follows the
9:30 a.m. service of Holy Eucharist
at Calvary Episcopal Church, 503 N.
Holladay Drive in Seaside. All are
welcome.
General Convention is held for
10 days every three years. Repre-
sentative lay members, clergy, and
bishops, from across the church gath-
er for legislation, resolutions, to set
mission priorities, and all the other
customary acts of a national conven-
tion. During this year’s convention,
the Rt. Rev. Michael Curry, bishop
of North Carolina, was elected to

presiding bishop of the church, be-
ginning his new work in November.
