OPB’s ‘State of Wonder’ comes to Astoria
The Daily Astorian
“State of Wonder,” Oregon
Public Broadcasting’s weekly
arts and culture show, will fea-
ture Astoria’s cultural transfor-
mation in next week’s program.
A free live recording of per-
formances and interviews with
Astoria artists and community
leaders is scheduled for noon
Monday at the Liberty Theater.
The program will air on OPB
at noon on June 20.
April Baer, the show’s host,
will be joined by organizers and
artists of the Astoria Music Fes-
tival, including conductor Keith
Clark, music director and pianist
Cary Lewis, Oregon Symphony
Concertmaster Sarah Kwak, and
renowned cellist Sergey Antonov.
A live performance by Blind
Pilot’s Israel Nebeker, Antonov
and other string players is sched-
uled. Nebeker and Blind Pilot
drummer Ryan Dobrowski, who is
also a painter, will be interviewed.
Baer is also expected to talk
about the city’s cultural transforma-
tion with arts advocate and Clatsop
County Commissioner Sarah Ne-
beker, Fort George Brewery and
Public House co-founder Jack
Harris, painter Darren Orange, and
writer Matt Love.
