Scappoose wins Astoria invite
The Daily Astorian
WARRENTON — Six schools gath-
ered at the Astoria Golf & Country Club
Thursday, and battled a little wind and a
little rain in the Astoria Invitational girls
golf tournament.
Three players tied for medalist hon-
ors, and Scappoose ran off with the team
title.
The Indians posted a 440 team score,
topping Ilwaco (479), Seaside (528) and
Astoria (628), while Banks and Tilla-

BANKS — No. 1-ranked Banks
racked up 34 runs in just eight at-bats
Thursday, in a 21-1, 13-3 doubleheader
sweep over Seaside in a Cowapa League
softball doubleheader at Banks.
Seaside’s only run in Game 1 came
when Whitney Westerholm was hit by
a pitch, and scored on a triple by Jetta
Ideue.
The Braves had 19 hits in the opener,
and six hits in Game 2.
In the nightcap, Seaside scored all
three of its runs in the fourth inning.
Paige Ideue scored on a single by Jetta
Ideue, who advanced to third on an error.
Allie Bussert drove in another run.
