Daughter Freja born in 2008 daughter No. 2, Maia, was
born in 2010.
Life settled down somewhat in 2014 and the couple saw an
window to wed. Plans were solidified and in place within a
month.
“We chose October. We love the change in seasons, the days
are still long, and oh those autumn colors,” Kathleen said.
The wedding party included the bride and groom’s imme-
diate families, 10 in all. Cannon Beach proved a perfect loca-
tion and the Stephanie Inn the ideal setting.
“I first called our families and asked them to join us. Then
I called the Stephanie Inn. The staff at the Inn worked with us
suggesting and providing everything we needed. They were so
graciously accommodating.”
After the long wait, the couple were ready to put on their
finest to say their “I do’s.”
“I had seen a picture of Prince William’s wife, Kate, wear-
ing a shrug. I searched far and wide for one like it. I ended up
buying it in the U.K. through eBay. Amazingly it arrived before
our wedding. I didn’t have time to special order or find a cus-
tom wedding dress so I ordered 10 different styles of dresses
from J. Crew to try. I knew that I wanted something silk and
timeless. I found just the one.
“Our daughters/attendants, Freja and Maia, were also all
dressed up, wearing tiered cotton and silk dresses, also from J.
Crew.
“Ward wore a beautiful cashmere sport coat and a designer
(ermenegildo zegna) silk tie. Oh, and our shoes! He wore To
Boot New York wing tips and I had Stuart Weizmann wedges,”
Kathleen said. This party was dressed to party.”

The wedding took place on a beautiful autumn afternoon in
the Stephanie Inn’s Library.
“Officiated by Barbara Beach, we exchanged our wedding
vows and rings. Barbara was just what we wanted,” Kathleen
said.
Upstairs in the Simis/Tuttle suite, hors d’oeuvres and Ore-
gon wines were waiting for the newlyweds and their guests. A
gluten-free cheesecake, per the couple’s request, topped with
white chocolate was served, as toasts were offered to continu-
ing happiness.
“Later that night, Ward and I enjoyed dinner in the Inn’s
restaurant, just the two of us. It was one of the best meals we’ve
had,” said the bride. And their first as husband and wife.
Ten years in the making, the Simis-Tuttle love story proved
to be well worth the wait.
