Lady Fish outlast Cheesemakers, 36-33

tonight and played good de-
fense and rebounded well,”
said coach Wally Hamer. “Brit-
tany West came off the bench
to give us a big lift on defense
and rebounding, as did Paige
Ideue. Great effort by every
one of our starters.
“We got kind of tired in the
fourth and hadn’t scored for
awhile, and Maddi hit a clutch
two and a clutch three to get us
going again,” he said.
In addition, “I really love
how Whitney Westerholm
has become a complete play-
er,” Hamer said. “She can run
our offense and plays great
defense. Syd and Haylee left

which set the tone for the sec-

Teammate Derek Jarrett fol-

3-pointers, then the 6-foot-5
post closed the quarter with an-
other trey that had Astoria with-
in 48-40 going to the fourth.
The Cheesemakers man-
aged to rebuild a 54-42 lead be-
fore the Fish rallied again, this
time behind an offensive re-
bound hoop by Morgan Fruiht,
a three-point play for Ryan
Palek at the 4:54 mark, and
3-point shots by Scroup and
Kyle Strange that had Astoria
within 57-55 with 2:39 left.
But that’s where the come-
back trail ended for Astoria,
which would not score again
while Tillamook made 10-of-

league win at the Sisters Tour-
nament Dec. 31. It was Banks’
