ger Awareness Sunday, with an
ingathering for the Hunger Minis-
tries at the church. Both monetary
and nonperishable food donations
are requested. Paper and personal
products are especially needed.

will be served in the Parish Hall
at 4 p.m. Sunday, free of charge.
Those willing to help should come
at 3 p.m. to set up and at 5 p.m. to
clean up. For information, call the

The Seaside Elks Lodge
announces Seth Trevino as
the winner of this year’s
annual essay contest. The
theme was “What the Pledge
of Allegiance Means to Me.”
This is the second year in a
row that Trevino, an eighth-
grade student at Broadway
Middle School, has won the
contest.
“When I recite the “Pledge
of Allegiance,” it reminds me
of my obligation to defend
“the land of the free and the
home of the brave,” as so
many others have in the past,”
writes Trevino. “The Pledge
of Allegiance” isn’t just a
phrase; it’s a message of cour-
age and loyalty”.
The winning essay will be
submitted to the Elks North-
west District Contest. Win-
ners chosen at this level will
be submitted to the State Es-
say Competition.
