The Southern. Pacific is figur
ing on the question of running the
Albany local to Eugene. If the
plan be adopted, a change in the
arriving and departing time of the
train at Albany will result,; and
with it, a -similar change in the
moraing and evening train into
Corvallis. The plan is. to leave
Portland at six o'clock in the even-
- ing,. instead of four as now. That
would bring the evening train into
, Corvallis at 10 p. m. The leaving
time out of Corvallis in the morn
ing would be but little changed
from the present, though the start
from Albany would be half an hour'

Work is progressing rapidly
m the changes that are being made
in tie Lafferty brick-. The ceiling
faas been raised throughout, and all
; the partitions below long ago dis
appeared, leaving a big airy room
on the lower floor. Windows have
been put in the rear walls, and the
. work of transformation in the ap
pearance of the latter : will be a
sweeping change, and one to add
greatly to the -perspective of front
street. The lower story is to be
entirely of iron and plate glass.
There will be two entrances and a
stairway. The front will be run
ap a full two story height, andfive
windows put in the upper portion,
so that in case the roof, ever be
raised no change will be necessary
In the front. The building is to be
occupied, as all know, by Hollen
berg & Cady.

brick stable, will be out this after

came out of the factory. It is to be
at the Vidito etable, where it is
ready for the use of the public, as
usual, at any time, day or night.
The current impression that the
cab is only to be used at funerals,
is erroneous. It will be hired to
anybody at any. time.
