Walter Kaupisch's buggy Irequi
red the attention of : a blacksmith
and wagonmaker : after an incident
which occurred Saturday afternoon.
Mr. Kaupisch hitched his horse to
one of the supports of the shed in
front of the creamery just before
starting to Philomath in his con
veyance. The horse became frigh
tened at something and mounted
the platform taking the buggy with
him. The result wbs a confused
mix up, highly entertaining to on
lookers, the much more so because
the creamery man paid the bill.
Albany Democrat: Russell Wal
lace, Claire Ketchum and Fred
Ficklin were on their way to . Cor
vallis yesterday in the rig of the
first named, when they met the
Fischer automobile, of Corvallis.
The horse was frightened and tur

out, and then "Jit out" for Albany.
Mr. Fischer, with young Wallace
started in pursuit letting the . ma
chine out to the limit and after a
few miles chase the horse was
caught, the result being a slight
break of the seat and a little injury
to a wheel. They continued their
way to Corvallis. , " J -.;

The Corvallis Water Company
made a new proposition to the city.
It was submitted to the council at a

ments larger water mains are pro

allowed to put in all 'the
fire hydrants it , wants to at
its own expense, and " the
total charge for water for fire pro

city is to have the option of. pur

a price of $16,000 for the present
plant, plus the Portland cost of any
improvements made. .The proposed
extension of the system is estimated
to cost over $2,000 The ofter was
