MAN HELD FOR KILLING
OF GERMAN SECRETARY
BERLIN, June 29. Ernst Teschow.
a monarchist agitator, was arrested
at Frankfort today on suspicion he
is one of the three agents who assas
sinated Walter Rathenau last Satur
day. Three men, prominent in former
monarchistic uprisings, have been
named by the police as the assassins
of Walter Rathenau, foreign minister.
Ernst Tes how, Hermann Fischer
and Fritz Kauer, all former members
of the Echardt brigade, were betray
ed to authorities by a man who alleg
ed he was one of the conspirators,
and that the three were deputed to
carry out the assassination. They
are being sought throughout Ger
many. The men upon whom the police are
centering their search were identifier
with the empryonic Kapp "putsch,"
and are known under several aliases
as ruthless criminals.
Last year 842,937 kilograms . of
freight and 489 passengers were car
ried by the Amsterdam-London aerial
1 navigation line, according to figures
received by the Transportation Divis
ion of the Department of Commerce.
On the Amsterdam-Brussels-Paris line
traffic amounted to 346,203 kilograms
of mail, 11,141,420 kilograms of goods,
and 931 passengers. On the Rotterdam-Hamburg
service 356.545 kilo
grams of goods, and 264 passengers
were carried. These figures show a
very significant increase over the
1920 returns, which were less than
one per cent of the number of passen
gers. The daily Amsterdam-London ser
vice of this company, discontinued
during the winter, was resumed on
April 18. A new set of passenger and
freight rates, representing an apprec
iable reduction from those of 1920
and 1921, have been put into" effect.
Passenger rates have been reduced
from 150 guilders in 1920 to 75 guild
ers. In 1920 ,the maximum freight
charge was 2.50 and the minimum
charge 1.50 guilders per kilogram,
whereas the present rate of 1.50 guild
ers for the first kilogram, with a rate
of fl. 1.00 for each additional kilogram
and a special rate of 0.S0 guilders per
kilogram on large quantities, .
The Netherlands Government has
not as yet taken any action toward
renewing the subsidy granted the Roy
al Aerial Navigation Company "in
1921.
