nauch is still confined to the house by
sickness. Postmaster Cooke has been
carrying mail. Nothing seems to stop
him, land slides, high water, or any
thing as Redland has been getting
mail every day.
All smallpox patients are getting
better and no more new cases as yet.
Health officer Welsh visited the
schools last Wednesday and ordered
all pupils vaco'nated.
Mr. Armstrong was an Oregon City

The remains of Anna Bertha le
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Ue, of
Portland, were laid to rest In lb"
Damascus cemetery, Friday, January
30. Annu I-ee was born In Portland
July 10, 112. and died at Emanuel
hospital in Portland. January 2.

able and gentle nature and much
loved by all who knew her.
Besides her parents, she Is survived
by her four-year old brother, George
Woodrow Iaw and a number of other
relatives. She was the granddaughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Bachmann, of
Clackamas, her mother being former
ly Miss Lydla Bachmann.

terfeld, a farmer living near this
place, reported the disappearance of
potatoes worth more than $100 from
his potato house on Friday night
The potatoes were sacked and
ready to be taken to market. Today,
when the farmer went to get them,
tho entire lot was gone.
The thief is believed to have hnul
ed them away by auto.
A clew has been found, It ,1s re
ported, and Portland police have been
asked to Investigate.
