grange, at a meeting held In Salem
Wednesday, adopted the following res
olution: "Whcreaas, the government baa tak
en upon Itself the duty of fixing prices
on products aold by the farmers, there
fore It Is the sense of the Pomona
grange that It ahould also regulate the
prices of staple articles bought by the
farmers."
The resolution, itwas explained, re
fere to farm machinery and imple
ments needed on the farm.

Jasper Klddwell, an employe of the
Oregon City woolen mills, and 60 years
ot age, met with a terrible accident
while at hla post on Tuesday afternoon,
when his arm was tearfully mangled,
and waa feared on Tuesday evening
that It would be necessary tor amputa
tion near the shoulder. The arm was
broken at the shoulder, and the at
tending physician, Dr. M. C. Strick
land, of this city, rushed the patient to
the St. Vincent's hospital In Portland.
An effort Is being made to save the
arm of the unfortunate man.
Kiddwell'a family reside at Seventh
and Jackson streets, and be has been
employed by the woolen mlllB for the
past two months.

for' trial In Judge Stovers' court Fri
day, appeared before that magistrate
Thursday afternoon and changed his
Dlea to that of guilty. He was lined
$10.00 and costs by Judge Sievers.
Russell was arrested last Monday on
complaint ot George Dunmlre, promt
nent strike leader aad president of the
local paper makers' union, following
a personal encounter with Russell.
The latter accosted Dunmire at Glad
stone Sunday evening and accused him
of having made derogatory remarks
concerning his character. This Dun
mire is said to have denied, when Rus
sell struck htm a rocking blow on the
left cheek."
Following his scriptual training,
Dunmlre "turned the other cheek" and
immediately reported the matter to
local authorities, and a complaint was
issued trom the district attorney's of
fice Monday.
