lating the itate prohibition law, will

that he would fight any attempt to de
lay for a second time the trial of Wll
bur and hla employes, which now I
set for Friday and Saturday of tula
week.
The motion for continuance. It Is
said, will allege that Wilbur Is ill and
physica'ly unable to stand trial. The
trials were postponed from November
8 and 9 on motion of Wilbur, and Dis
trict Attorney Hedges Is much op
posed to a second postponement of tho
case.
Wilbur is proprietor of the Friar
club at Mllwaukle which was raided
by Sheriff Wilson and a posse the
morning of October 1.

JOSEPH LMUMPQWER,
Joseph L. Mumpower, a resident of
the Stone district since 1SS2. died at
a hospital in Salem Sunday at the age
of 0 years. The body was brought
to Oregon City Monday and tho funer
al will be held at the Stone church at
2:30 o'c'ock this afternoon. Interment
will be In the Uigal fcemetery.
Mr. Mumpower was born in Virginia
and came to Oregon ln 1S82, settling In
the Stone district, where he became
one of the best known farmers. His
wife died recently. The following
children survive: Mrs. John J. Hattan,
of Redland: W. E. Mumpower, of
Stone: L. D. Mumpower. of Gladstone,
and Grant Mumpower, of Stone.
