Stipp prepared the papers In the case.
Zwahlen alleges that Haurer made
tho following remark to W. H. Wett
Inufer, another fanner of Clarkes: "He
eat my steer and ate of it at bis table.
He was without meat nnd hod to
stenl for a living. If ho had come to
mo I would have given him something
so that he would not have to steal.
He took my heifer nnd put his brand
on my holfer and kept the heifer ln
his pasture. Ho butchered my steer."
The alleged remarks were made last

West Linn early this week, L. Barrett
became caught between two large
rocks and broko his leg. Although
the leg was broken at the ankle, usual

he maintains that he is now able to
