Judge Dlmick arrived in U'ilsonvllle
on Saturday afternoon, accompanied
by the County Commissioner and the
Deputy County Cl'-rk. The Judge
made a splendid address tnoroughly
vindicating the County Court as to
the manner In which the taxes are
used for Improvements, and we feel
sure our county officers are doing
their very best, with 'he amount, of
money that is placed at their disposal.
If other parts of this section of i
country that are more dead than alive
are willing to take a tonic in tne
shape of a bridge over the Willam
ette, at the expense of the county,
the residents of Wllsonvllle ought to
speak out for that free ferry we have
all been longing for. Trains pass our
doors 20 times a day. This was the
original crossing, and moreover the
Oregon Klentrlc Company employed
engineers, who decided after serious
consideration that Wllsonvllle was
the best place for a bridge, so why
not have a free ferry?
Miss Kllen Probst's recital on Fri
day evening brought, a large crowd
to greet the village favorite. The
programme throughout was classical,
and although many difficult numbers
were Introduced, each one was taken
with ease by the singer and her as
sistants upon the piano. Miss P.robst
was assisted by Miss Mabel Seey
and Misses Elizabeth and Mary,
District No. 21, Is busy working on
the road between Colton and Clarkes
with a number of men and teams.
