Jefferson, Ore., April 18, 1!H0. Editor of Enterprise. In answer to inquiring friends I would llke'to tell them through your paper about Jef ferson, Oregon. It Is situated 58 miles fcouth of Oregon City In one of the most fertile spots of the Valley, high ly developed In some lines, such as dairying, fruit raising, and general farming. There are still hundreds of acres of land that are not under cul tivation. There are being rapidly set tled by homeseekors. Some of the larger tracts are cut up Into smaller tracts and planted to fruit, and the owners, In a few years, have realized double what they paid for the land. There is no better field for Invest ment In Oregon today than right around Jefferson, where telephones, rural delivery and good roads are be ing extended In every direction. Here Is a good market for all the farmer has to sell and fair chances for those who want to work for a liv ing. Jefferson is IB miles from Salem, and 9 miles from Albany on the north bank of the Santlam River. It has a beautiful location and many beauti ful home3 and cottages of modern styles of architecture. At the river (the line between Mar lon and Linn Counties) there Is to be a $50,000 bridge built this Hummer, the expense to be divided between the two counties. Jefferson Is also on the line of the Oregon Electric survey from Salem to Albany, and has a large passenger t raffle to tempt the Interurban to come close enough to capture It. The Industries now consist of one each, sawmill, flour mill, city electric plant, city -water plant and creamery, besides opera house, 4 halls, 12 busi ness houses and 2 hotels. Respectfully, H. L.
