Bert Wallace took the remains of: the late Emit Scharrf to Portland Friday where the body was embalmed and shipped to Eastern Oregon for burial. Mrs. Smith, of Grangevllle. Idaho, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Churchill, at Mulino this week. There are a couple of crews run ning logs and shingle bolts down Mill Creek this week: a pretty cold Job this kind of weather. Fred Churchill was hauling wood for Mr. Bruner Tuesday afternoon. MT. PLEASANT. The four-act drama, "The Heart of a Hero." which was to have been pre sented Tuesday night in the assembly hall of the school, was postponed on account of the bad weather. It will be repeated as soon as the weather moderates, and from all indications, the attendance this time will be fully as large as was the audience when the play was presented before. A number of Oregon City people are planning to attend if the weather is decent. Misses Eliiabeth Bronaugh and Nell Williams of Portland, were the guests of the Misses King at "Edgewood" last week. Miss Marie Balmer, of Portland, vis ited her parents here Saturday and Sunday. Arthur Hyatt who has been taking a special course at the Oregon Agri cultural College, has returned to his home in ML Pleasant. Adolph Joeinke, who is confined to St. Vincent's Hospital with a re lapse of typhoid fever. Is improving. Mrs. Charles Stanley, of Portland, visited her mother, Mrs. Hyatt, Tues day. Mountain View was visited with a regular blizzard on Tuesday, bnt ow ing to the wind that was prevailing, it was difficult to ascertain the depth of snow. It was probably only about two inches, but we think that was a Sufficiency for this time of the year. The thermometer registered 25 de grees. There has been an unusual amount of sickness here this winter, which Is probably due to the severe winter we have had. The typhoid fever patients are on the road to recovery. Frank Wills is suffering with a se vere attack of lagrlppe. Mr. Moran was In Mountain View a few days ago purchasing shrubbery and rose bushes for his attractive place at Meldrum. Mr. Moran Intends to make his home at this place, one of the most attractive along the car line. ( Mrs. Mann's .brother, of Rainier, who has been visiting here, returned to his home on Saturday. Bertha May, and her mother. Mrs. May, are improving from their illness. Mrs. May has been suffering with neuralgia of the stomach. Mrs. Albright was very sick on Monday and Tuesday, but is improv ing. Mrs. Lottie Wonder, nee St. Clair, is visiting with Mrs. Hamm. Mrs. Cromer and daughter, of Springwater, who have been visiting with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Lewellcn, have returned to their home. There will be services held In this place at the church on Saturday af ternoon at 2:.'!0 o'clock and on Sunday morning at 11 o'clock by Rev. Moffit, of N'ewberg, pastor of the Primitive Baptist church, will officiate. All are invited to these services. Lillian Gillette, who has been very ill at her home here, Is improving. MACKSBURG. Our farming weather has failed to put in an appearance yet. Frank Brusch was seen in our burg last week driving a new team with a bran new harness. Several of our young people atten ded the dance at Aurora Saturday night. All reported a good time. Our roadH are getting to be In a pretty bad shape and the farmers still continue to haul off their spuds. Some good citizen of our burg was kind enough to dispose of six dogs along the public highways one day last week. The dogs were of the vicious kind which always run out when you went past, often frightening horses so they became unmanageable. The new church that is being built will soon be completed. Who said our burg isn't growing? If we had more boosters and not so many knockers, our town would prosper moreso than It does. J. W. Smith Is intending to take his sheep up to Table Rock this sum mer. If this ' weather prevallB another month or two lots of the farmers will be without feed. Mrs. January has been suffering for the past two weeks with neuralgia of the heart, but Is somewhat better at time of writing. Mr. and Mrs. Peterson, who pur chased the Catto property some time ago, are Improving and otherwise buil ding up the place. Mrs. Cain and family are renting the Ward place for the Winter. In the Spring they will go east of the mountains on the farm of Mr. Ward. Mr. and Mrs. Illlngs have purchased the Melllen property and will go In the chicken business.
