Cassidy and Ed Boner have returned home after filing on lands in the Spokane reser vation. George Shultz tnd Louis Ger ber got sidetracked in Seattle and will not make application for lands until some day this week. George and Louis struck the Pay Streak at the Pair and saw wonderful sights. Mrs. May Bell Strunk Is visiting her folks in Dodge this week and pick ing berries for winter use. I There was a party of berry pickers and fishermen out from Woodstock. I near Portland, to camp on Jeff Park's I j place in Dodge, but were Invited to I hunt somewhere else, so they did it BORING. KELSO. Everybody here has been rushing their bay In, but most of them got it wet. The small twin son of Mr. Sloop while playing around an old well broke through the curbing and was drowned. This Is two well accidents from old wells here this summer, as Harry Blckford fell through the curbing of an old well on Mr. Jonsrud's place and would have been drowned had not Mr. Klinesmith came to his assistance im mediately. Miss Minnie Lindholm and Miss Carlson, of Portland, are spending their vacation here. Anna Jarl and Marjorie Busby are visiting in Kelso this week. The butcher is busy buying up our scrub cattle. Milton Nelson is helping himself along on crutches, as be came in too close contact with a log. Kligels have traded off their fine, big mare that was so afraid of auto mobiles, for a little, gentle one. Miss Lydia Yabs is spending the summer with her parents here. Ned Nelson and family have moved into their new home here. T. G. Jonsrud's fine, big barn is nearly completed. Leo Rath and Anna Jarl Bpent Sun day in George, visiting their brother and sister. There will be a big social here Fri day night. SPRING WATER. Gus Wilcox and family have been spending a few days here visiting their parents. W. Tucker has been working on E. Kilgrove's house, and will have it completed soon. Henry Comer is also having some work done by Earl Shlbley and Elmer Dibble. Mrs. Sherman's sister from the East is here visiting, and likes the country very well. Mr. Schmidt's new house is still "growing" and looks fine. No one has yet been hired to teach our schools. Howard Smith, Mr. Lewellen's clerk, is spending his vacation in the bay field. That Is a good place. EAGLE CREEK. Miss Ada t'nruh, state organizer and lecturer of the W. C T. U., lec tured at the Methodist Episcopal church at Boring Sunday morning. Miss Unruh was formerly connected with the National committee of the W. C T. U. Much Interest was man ifested In her talk. Boring won the ball game from Pulfer & Shay's team Sunday morning by a Bcore of 7 to 6. In the after noon in the game between Pleasant Home and Boring, Boring was again winner by a score of 8 to 6. Next Sunday Boring and Pleasant Home play ball on the latter's grounds. The Boring team is arranging to give a dance in the near future to raise funds with which to improve the grounds and put up bleachers. There were 12 excursion trains Into Boring Sunday loaded with people bound for Boring and Estacada on picnics and berrying. The berries are plentiful this year, and there are many Portland people taking advantage of that fact to get an outing and secure the fruit at the same time. SPRINGWATER. The social given by the Good Tem plars Saturday was a success. A large crowd appreciated the pro gramme, also the Ice cream and cake. A number of members from Currins ville and Estacada were present. Mrs. Hayden had her foot badly Injured a few days ago by a fall. Harvey Marshall, William C'losner, Bert Park and Gerald Wilcox left their homes and many friends a few days ago for Eastern Oregon, where they will work through harvest. Miss Emma Shlbley, who has been 111, is now able to be with us again. Most of the farmers are engaged In the hay fields Just at present. There will he preaching services e'very two weeks both morning and evening at the Preslyterian church by our new minister. Everyone come and hear a good sermon. Blackberries are getting ripe now and everyone Is "'filling the Jars" for the cold weather. Charles Kandle and Miss Emma Schenk are taking music lemons on the violin from Fred Horner, of Dodge. Miss Mary Howard and Bert Park, from Dodge, and Miss Ethel Hale, of Currlnsville, visited, our Sunday School Sunday. Some of the farmers no doubt are rejoicing over this rain, but others are lamenting over It because of the hay they have standing In the shock. Mrs. A. J. Kitzmlller returned home last week from Montlcello, Indiana, where she spent the past two months visiting with relatives. Walter Douglass' fine new residence is rapidly nearing completion, and is now almost ready for the plasterer' to put on the plaster. The lathers came last week from Vancouver, nail ed on the laths, returned home on Monday. When finished the residence of Mr. Douglass will be the most mod ern and up-to-date one in the commu nity. Henry Udell purchased a team of which he is very proud, of H. S. Gib son last week. John Reld and family were visiting with James Gibson and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Udell Sunday. The Eagle Creek nine played a I game of ball Sunday afternoon with a team with an out landish name and as usual won. The score was 12 to 3. The Eagle Creek team is the cham pion team of Clackamas county. They have beaten Fulton, White Diamond, University Park, Canby, OBwego, Clacwamas, Gladstone, the Japs and several other teams this season. Hur rah for Eagle Creek. President Help Orphan. The Robley & Homer sawmill burn ed down Thursday evening between 11 and 12 o'clock. Tbey have started re-buildlng. There was no Insurance on the mill. They will use the same machinery again. The berry pickers are coming In again, as it Is blackberry time. There are not many berries this year. We had one of the hardest rain storms here Monday I believe I ever saw in Oregon. Every road was a oreek. The heaviest storm lasted i about one hour. I There is a great deal of hay down I in this place. Mr. Anker has left Dodge again. None knows where he has gone. We saw In the paper that Mr. Brad ley had been run down and brought to Portland, but we hear they did not get the right man.
