basket ball team here last week and
had their first practice Saturday even

Friday afternoon the Mothers' and
Teachers' Club met In the school
house. A large numher being pres
ent. Resolutions of condolence on the
death of Richard Scott were made.
The committee reported the comple
tion of ihe kalsomining of the old
rooms of the school. The picture
moulding will be put up In these
rooms next Saturday. The Club also
denies the credit of the piano as that
belongs to the teachers of the school.
Last Saturday evening a numher of
Odd Fellows and Rebekahs surprised
the Clackamas order. They drove
down in a covered wagon and report
having a jolly time going and coming.
The visitors were royally entertained.
An oyster supper was served, also
cake and coffee. Games were played
and all enjoyed a Terr- pleasant ev

strokes of paralysis. He was strick
en the first time during the latter
part of October, and the secoud stroke
came on the morning of November 13.

The farmers of the; county have
' all been busily engaged in sowing
, their grain, although the rain of the
last few days" has been a hindrance.
The weather has been just what the
farmers have wanted. The early frost
has done some damage to the late veg
etables, but potatoes and other hardy
vegetables suffered very little.
The. potato market Is not active at
present. The growers are offering
freely, but decline to sell for the
prices that some of the buyers are
paying.
The grape season Is a thing of the
p.ist, aud very few are found in the
markets. Apples are coming into the
market quite freely, anil are of good
quality. The King and others are
bringing a price of 75 cents per box
and upwards, according to the grade.
E?g3 are still scarce, and arc re
tailing at 4H cents per dozen. The de
mand for Eastern eggs In the local
market is not griat, and very few art
being shipped in.
Turnips and parsnips are arcong the
late vegetables that are now being
brought to the market.
Wheat has gone from 00 to Oj cents
pr bushel, gray oat's from $27 to Z.
The price of hay remains the same as
last week.
