VACATION OF OSWEGO
STREETS IS WANTED
PLANS OF OREGON IRON & STEEL
COMPANY OPP08EO BY
LOCAL RESIDENTS.
The County Court nml Wednesday
and wrestled nil tiny with the problem
of vacating streets and alley In Os
wego. The Oregon Iron & Steel Com
pany has filed a petition for the vaca
tion of all streeta and alleys went of
Thirteenth street and Attorney Hunt,
of I'ortlnnd. pleaded with the Court
to grant the prayer of his clients, but
Judge Cordon Hayes argued against
the petition, on behalf of many of the
Oaego people. Borne years ago It
waa though that Oswego was to be
come a second Pittsburg and the prop
erty owners laid out the town In lots
and blocks. Later the people attempt
ed to Incorporate the town, but tlu-lc-
petition was faulty, and upon another
effort to Incorporate, the Oregon Iron
A Stool Company filed Its vacation pe
tition, although tho company made
the original dedication. Judge Dlmick
and Commissioners Lewellen and Mat
loon will go to Oswego today and take
a look at the situation.
