iliary of the Foresters of America,
known as Companions of the Forest
Great activity is being manifested
throughout the state, and Oregon City
is leading in the march of progress.

McFarland & Goodfellow have pur
chased the building that has long
been occupied by the Stakely Houxe
on Main, near Fifth street The fur
niture and equipment of the Stakely
House was moved on Thursday into
the Wilhelm Tell House. McFarland
and Goodfellow expect to fit up their
building for a billiard and pool hall.
Miss Veda Williams, of Oregon
City, Instructor of the Haggerman Col
lege, Ltxlngton. Ky., who has been
spending her summer vacation with
relatives in Lenazzee, Mich., has re
turned to Lexington, where she will
take up her duties for the second year
at an advanced salary. Miss Williams.
for the past three weeks, has been
traveling with the vocal instructor of
the same college, these two young
women having been appointed by the
president of the Institution to work up
the musical course of the college,
and they have visited many states
during the past three weeks. This Is
an honor to Miss Williams, as last
year was her first year as Instructor
there. She Is meeting with great suc
cess In her profession.
