, CITY COUNCIL MEETS.
Overhead Crossing Ordinance Passes
Its First Reading.
The council met Wednesday night
and Frank Busch suoke to the
cilmen on the Bubject of the grade
on Moss street, near Eleventh street,
and asked that the grade be re-established.
The ordinance permitting the
Southern Pacific Company to construct
a concrete overhead crossing between
Fifth and Sixth streets passed Its first
reading. This crossing will be con
structed In such a manner that stairs
may be built to connect It with either
Fofth or Sixth streot, both at the hill
and back of Main street. A number
of people residing on Fifth street
brought a petition before the meeting
to have the steps connect with Fifth
street, both at the beginning and tho
end of the flight. It is more than
probable that the Sixth street people
will bring in a similar petition. The
matter of the franchise for the P. Ry
L. & P. Co. to string their wires on
Water street was laid over till nnvi
Wednesday nlKht. when an adlourned
meeting will be held.
