Survey Canal and Locks.
Senator Fultoa has Introduced a res
olution directing the Secretary of War
to cause a survey and examination to
be made of the existing canal and
locks at Willamette Falls, Oregon
City, to ascertain the amount t mon
ey renulred bv appropriation by Con
gress. In addition to that made by Ore
gon, to acquire the canal and locks and
properly repair the same.
Mid-Term Examinations.
Mid-term examinations In the pub
lic schools began Tuesday and the
pupils of the Barclay and Eastham
buildings are wearing a worried look,
that may not disappear until the final
results are announced. The examina
tions will continue all this week and
conclude Friday.
Injured by Severe Fall.
Ben Eby, au employe of the Crown
Columbia Pulp & Paper Company, sus
tained a badly sprained shoulder and
a cut on the back of his head as a re
sult of a fall he received Monday morn
ine. He was working on the new pulp
mill being built on the east side of
the river, when the wet and slippery
condition of the sidewalks caused him
to fall heavily, striking on his head
and shoulders under the railing on the
walk. Dr. Carll was summoned and
attended the injured man, who was
afterwards removed to his home in
Parkplace.
Mrs. Leonard L. Pickens entertained
tho Aloha Club at her new home in
West Oregon City Thursday after
noon. The prize in bridge was won
by Mrs. J V,' Gray. , who leaves soon
for her home In Oakland, Cal. Dainty
