DEATH'S DAILY HARVEST
The funeral services of Loota Loo
11a Burns, the three-year old daughter
ot Mr. and Mrs, C. Ej Burns, Jr., were
held at 4 o'clock lu St. Paul's Episco
pal church, Rev, Philip K. Hammond
officiating. The church was crowded
with sympathizing friends ot the fam
ily. There were a great number of
floral designs and bouquets, in fact,
more than a wagon load. The Eagles,
Knights of Pythias, fire department,
O. N. Q., and other organliatlons pre
sented beautiful floral designs. After
the funeral services in the church
the remains were conveyed to Mount
ain View cemetery for burial, a large
number of carriages going In the pro
cession. The pallbearers were: Wal
ter Kelly, Gtwgo. John, Earl Burke
and Truman Cross. The news of the
child's death came as a great shock
to the friends of the family. She had
been ill with tonsllltis for a time, but
was recovering, when Friday after
noon she contracted pneumonia and
croup, which resulted in her death
Saturday morning. The child was a
general favorite in the neighborhood,
and Mr. and Mrs. Burns have the sh
eerest sympathy of the entire com
munity.
Paulson. The youngest daughter,
Martha M of Mr. and Mrs. Hans
Paulson of 8S6 Division street, Port
land, died May 28. She had been ill
for several months with Inflammatory
rheumatism, yet no grave fears were
entertained concerning her condition,
but she was taken suddenly worse
and nothing that medical aid could
do could aid her. The funeral took
place from the family home at George
on Thursday, May 30, and she was
laid to rest in the family burying
ground nearby. Rev. Jerome R. Mc
Glade. D. D., of the Presbyterian
church of Portland officiated.' Many I
relatives and friends were present
and manifested their deep sympathy
for the bereaved family. A father
and mother, three brothers and one
sister are left to mourn her death.
This is the second time within a year
that a loved one has been taken, the
eldest daughter passing away last
September. Mr. and Mrs. Paulson
resided in Clackamas county for 33
years. He twice served his county
In the state legislature and a wide
circle of friends and acquaintances
mourn the loss with the family.
Edith Green, the ten-year old daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Green, died
at the home of her parents in West
Oregon City at 1:30 o'clock Monday
morning. The girl had been suffer
ing for some time with brain paraly
sis, which was the cause of her de
mise. The funeral will be held from
the family residence at 2 o'clock Tues
day afternoon, the Rev. J. R. Lands
borough officiating.
The funeral services of Edith
Green, the ten year old daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Green, were held
at the residence in West Oregon City
Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The
services were conducted by Rev. J.
R. Landsborough. A very large num
ber of friends were present to pay
their last respects to the departed
one. The floral offerings were many
and beautiful; several societies pre
senting beautiful designs. After the
services the remains were carried to
this side of the river and corveyel to
Mountain View cemetery, where they
were interred. The pall bearers were
Frederick Baker, Hugh Bunion, James
McDonald, Charles Freeman, Ernest
Mosier and Henry Melvln.
Thomas A. Smith, a well known
resident of the West Side, died at
3 o'clock, Tuesday morning, after sev
eral years' suffering with tuberculo
sis. He was 30 years old. He leaves
a widow and one child, a sister's
child whom he raised, and two broth
ers, Matthew at Bandon, Ore., and
Erastus A. at Arietta. The funeral
will be held from the residence
Thursday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev.
Gilman Parker conducting the cere
mony. The remains will be laid at
rest in the family lot In the Clacka
mas cemetery.
Nancy Ellen Moak, wife of Peter
Moak, died at their home in Parkplace
Wednesday, in her fifty-first year.
Mrs. Moak was taken ill on Sunday
with a sever attack of stomach and
bowel trouroe which resulted in her
death. She leaves behind her a hus
band, seven children, three boys and
four girls. The family came to Ore
Ron in 1881. Sola Circle Women of
Woodcfaft at Oregon City will have
charge of the burial services at 1:30
Saturday afternoon.
O. D.-Eby of tliis city received word
of the death of Charles Fox at The
Dalles, Monday night. Mrs. Eby had
Just returned from The Dalles, and
when she left he was reported as
recovering. Mr. Fox Is well known
in the vicinity of Molalla and Bar
low, his father, George B. Fox, hav
ing conducted a store there some
years ago.
