Mrs. Thomas Hansen, widow of the

two miles south of Macksburg, died
at 8 o'clock Friday evening at the'
Good Samaritan hospital in Portland
from the effects of injuries received

was taken to Portland Friday morn

the huge splinters of wood which had
been hurled into the flesh all over her
body.
The body was taken in charge by
Deputy Coroner Arthur Finley and
was shipped to Coroner Holman Satur
day morning.- The double funeral
will be held Sunday at Canby. A son
and two daughters, who were at Port

That the explosion of the 50 pounds
of giant powder which caused the
gruesome tragedy must have been
a terrific one is apparent from the
stories of neighbors living five miles
away. The report was distinctly
heard at that distance.
