After nearly three weeks of drouth which has been wonderfully enjoyed and Improved, the gentle rain began to descend upon the JuRt. etc., on Wed nesday morning, and before night had become the familiar old Oregon mist, and now the old bear will have his six weeks Innings; that is he has got to stay in six weeks., Political aspirants for office are buzzing around trying to Improve the shining hours repairing their political fences. Wo have not heard that the hound man and his Oregon City lawyer has returned the $25 they scared out of the old German, but then it Is sup posed the one needed tobacco, and the other needed a campaign fund. Mrs. Powell, who wan-supposed to have the small pox. is about again, and no new cases have developed. Mr. Hub Bowman expects to leave us soon to work in the logging camp. Mr. J. N. Railton left last Monday for an extended business trip to Port land. "HOOLIGAN IN NEW YORK." t' Mr. Jas. L. McCabe, who if one half the good things said about him may be believed, is a comedian of unusual ability, will make his first appearance in Oregon City at Shively's Opera House. Saturday evening, February 24, at the head of the company produc ing 'Hooligan In New York." Mr. McCabe was for a number of years prominent In the farce comedies pro duced by the late Chas. H. Hoyt. He was in the original cast of "A Milk White Flag." "A Black Sheep," and "A Stranger in New York." He was with Weber and Fields when their company Included such famous artists aa DeWolf Hopper, Willie Collier, Lil lian Russell and Fay Templeton. Last season he created the role of Hooli gan at the American Theatre, New York, where the play had a run of 115 nights. Mr. McCabe is peculiarly adapted to the part, which requires not only an unctuous comedian, but an actor who has the training and ability to enact heroic roles as welL The fact that he has scored the great est success of his career in "Hooligan in New York" would indicate that the production is one worthy of attention. To Be Heavy Favorites, it is said, have accom plished that, which baffled Mayor Lane, Captain Bruin and the Portland po lice, as the poolrooms of the Milwau kie Club have been closed, said Wed nesday's Oregonian. Successive and heavy winnings a result of the fa vorites coming off victorious in the California races are said to have cost the backers of the Milwaukie Club not less than $20,000 within the last few months. Dissolution of Partnership. The partnership heretofore existing between C. W. Kelly and L. Ruconich unr.er the firm name of Kelly & Ru conich, has been this day dissolved by mutual consent, Mr. Kelly retiring from the business which will bo con ducted by Mr. Ruconich who assumes all of the firm's obligations.
