Office over Bank of Oregon City. Startling, But True. People the world over were horrified on learning of the burning of a Chicago theatre In which nearly six hundred peo ple lost their lives, yet more than five times this number or over 3000 people died from pneumonia in Chicago during the same year, with scarcely a passing notice. Every one of these cases of pneumonia resulted from a cold and could have been prevented by the timely use of Chamberlain's Cough Remedy, A great many who had e ery renson to fear pneumonia have wardd It off by the prompt use of this rermdy. The tallow ing is an instance of tils sort: "Too much cannot be said In favor of Cham berlain's Cough Remedy, and especially for colds and Influenza. Schue bel this week raises the question wheth er or not a notary public has the right to officiate at a marriage ceremony. The Inquiry was first made of Secretary of Ktato Dunbar, who suggests that the question be submitted to the district at torney or his deputy. Mr. Wright alleges that during the month of January a Clackamas county notary public performed a marringo cere mony for a young man and a young wo man, also residents of this county, whom, he claims, are now living together as husband and wife.
