The woman claims that she was married to the defendant In 1903 and charges that he deserted her three months later without any cause whatever. Frank Redner recently had an opera tion performed on one of his knees that had been causing him great Inconveni ence. The operation waa a difficult one and Mr. Redner expects to regain the free use of the limb. Merriton, of Alabama, 1 was asked by a reporter how he had ac quired the facility with which he turned fro.n one case to another. In explanation he stated that he had learned this from what he saw at a baptism of colored people when a boy. "The weather was very cold." said Judge Merriton.
