An ordinance authorising lh Issuance of Improvement bonds in pursuance of the Act of the legislature of the Stale of Oregon known as the Bonding Act. at the game has been amended. Oregon City does ordain follows: Section 1. That In pursuance of appli cations of owners of property to pay cer tain assessment for the Improvement of atreet by installments, as provided by an Act of the legislature of the State of Oregon, passed February 16th. 1SS3, en titled "An act to provide for the Issuance of bonds for the Improvement of streets and the laying of sewers In incorporated cities, and for the payments ol cost of such improvements and laying of sewers by installments," as amended by an act of the legislature of the state of Oregon approved February sth. 1801. entitled "An act t amend sections 1, 2, 3, 4. 5. and 7 of an act entitled "An act to pro vide for the Issuance of bonds for the Improvement of streets and laying' of ewers in Incorporated cities, and for the payment of the cost of such improve ments and laying of sewera by install ments, filed In the office of the secretary of state February 12nd, lSS." the mayor and recorder of Oregon City are hereby authorised and directed to execute im provement bonda of Oregon City, Oregon, and to deliver the same to the treasurer of Oregon City'. 'ho shall retain said bonds until ordered by the finance com mittee of the council to deliver the said bonds to the purchaser of the same, who hall pay to said treasurer of Oregon City the amount bid for said bonds. Said bonds are Issued for the payment of a portion of the cost of the Improve ment of Center street from the north line of First street to the south line pt Sev enth street of Oregon City. Oregon, and hall not exceed the sura of three thou sand, four hundred ninety-two and sixty three hundredths IJ3I92.63) in the aggre gate. The denominations of said bonds shall be as follows: 6 bonds for $500 00 each and one bond for J4S2.C3. Each of said bonds to be dated August 1. 1904, and shall mature in ten year from the date thereof, and be payable in gold coin of the United States of America and bear interest at the rate of six per cent per annum: interest payable semi annually, said interest to be evidenced by coupons attached to said bonds, pro vided, however, the right to take up and cancel any or all of said bonds upon the payment of the face value thereof, with accrued Interest to the date of payment at any semi-annual coupon period, at or after one year from the date of said bond or bonds, la hereby reserved to Oregon City. Section 2. The treasurer of Oregon City is hereby directed to credit, upon receiving the purchase price of said bonds, the face value thereof to the Im provement Fund. (Cmter street) and ac crued interest and premium to the gene ral fund. Read first time and ordered published at a special meeting of the council of Oregon City held July 20. 19UI. and to come up for second reading and final passage at a regular meeting to be held August 3d. 1901. at t o'clock p. m. The validity of the act of the legis lature aforesaid has been affirmed by the supreme court of the state of Oregon. Said bonda will be Issued and delivered a the council shall direct. Bidder will be required to submit a flat bid, without condition, except as to the regularity of each Issue of bond, and to ubmit with their bid a certified check equal to 5 per cent of the aggre gate amount of the bid, payable to the mayor of Oregon City, as liquidated damage In case such bidder withdraw bis bid or fall or neglect to enter Into contract to take and pay for said bond according to th term of hi bid and tola notice.
