Miss Alice Kilter, principal of the Mun
dorli' school, was hotue on a visit last
Sunday.
Mrs Matilda Kuhnke, wife of Wil
liam Kuhnke, of this place, died on the
4th inst. and was interred at the Rock
cicek temetery on the 5tli. Mrs. Kuhnke
whs bom in Uermanv in September,
1S.VJ. In 1844, she with her husband
and family emigrated to America and
settled in the state of Wisconsin, and in
lSiW removed to Oregon and purchased
farm near Needy, where they have
lived ever since. Mrs Kuhnke was a
hard worker and together with her hus
band they hewed out of the heaviest
timber laud a comfortable home. She
Was a good neighbor and enjoyed the
highest esteem and respect from all who
know her. Mrs. Kulmke was when
taken sick attending her daughter, Mrs,
Trost, near Aurora, who was very sick,
when she herself was taken suddenly ill
and died at her daughter's home. Mrs.
Kuhnke leaves to mourn her os. her
liusbmd, William Kuhnke, Paul and
Herman, two sons, Mrs. Louisa Trost,
Minnie and Ma, three daughters, In-sides
a host of friends and neighbors who sin
cerely sympathize with them iu their
bereavement. I
