bine has abandoned said laud lor more
than six months last past, that he has
not resided upon, cultivated nor iin
proved said land lor more than six
months last past; that in fact said Lester
h. habine has never since making said
entry, resided upon, cultivated or im
proved any portion of said land in any
manner whatsoever, nor has any one
done so for him, and that said alleged
absence from the said land was not due
to his employment in the Army, Navy
or Marine Corps of the United Lutes as
a private soldier, olhc.er, seaman or mar
ine during the war with Spain or during
any other war in which the United
States may he engaged."
Said parties are hereby notified to ap
pear, respond and offer evidence touch
ing eair allegation at 19 o 'clock A. M'on
July 18, 1903, before the Register and
Keceiver ol the United States Jand Ol
lice at Oregon City, Oregon.
The said contestant having, in a proper
affidavit. Bled May 'il, 1903, set forth
facts which show that after due diligence
personal service of this notice can not be
made, it is hereby ordered and directed
that such notice he given by due and
proper publication.
