Just why people will continue to flock to see Uncle Tom's Cabin is, as Lord Dundreary would say, "One of those things that no fellow could find out." But they will continue to go and see it, just as they have been doing for thirty years. No play has been more abused than this one. It has beeu done in dime museums at the rate of ten times a day, and in one-night stands in an hour and a half by five or six people. On the other band, it has been given as a legitimate production. Being public property, any one who thought they could make a dol lar out of it has "produced the play," and tiiis city as well as the country at large has Buffered from the inflictions. But it was not until Warren & Day brought their $10,000 production out that the admirers of the play bad the pleasure of seeing it put on the stage in a manner that they could appreciate. Taking the piece as it was originally, Warren & Day gave it a dressing of com plete and realistic scenery, put the prin cipal roles into competent bands, en gaged a number of negroes to add to the pictures and sing and dance in the levee scenes in fact, did all in their power to make the performance acceptable to the public. In Oregon City under a huge tent at the corner of 7th and John Quincy Adame Btreets, Friday, Sept. 5, for one performance only. OASTOniA. Bsara tli I11 M Yn Haw Wwim Bought Attorney and Mrs. O. W.
