M0ORE3, Register Jacob Swain Risley, one of the moat prominent citizens in Clackamas County, died at his home neat this city last Sat urday morning. IW1I1 came suddenly. Mr. Kisley suffered a severe attack of lsgrippe last winter ami never fully re covered from its effects. Friday uiglit he was seized with a violent attack of coughing, which resulted in the bursting of a blood vettee! in his lung. The end catr.e at 8 o'clock Saturday morning. At his bedside were his children, John and Charles Risley, of Risley'a Station, nd Mrs. Harvey SUrkweather.ofMilwauaie. Mr Kieley was born December 1, 112, at Delphaa, O., ami crossed the plains in 1845 with his parents, settling in Yam bill County, near the preaent site of St. Joe. lu 1847 they moved to Clackamas County, and tbe father of the deceased took up a homestead and the family have resided there ever since. The prop erty is valuable and is familiar to Oregon City people, being on the line of the Portland City 4 Oregon Hallway, be tween Oregon City ami filwaukie. On Seplem'oer 20. 1857, Mr. Kisley married Miss Mary S. Scholl, who died June 15, 1880. No one man in Clackamas was better or more favorably known than Jacob Kieley. Honest, upright, and with the courage ol bis convictions, be was uni versally respected. In politics be wae an ardent Democrat, and in 1894 was a candidate lor comity jude, but was de feated. Me took a great interest in mat ters peitaining to the government of the county, as waa becoming in a large prop erty owner, and at all limes stood for what he coneidered to be the right. He was a prominent Odd Fellow and was a member ot Oswego Lodge, No. il l, and of Falls Eiitauopu.ent, No. 4, I. O. O. F. He was also a member of Milwaukie Grange, Patrons of HiiHbamlry. lie owned large property in Portland. The funeial was held Monday was held Monday morning at 10 o'clock un der the auHpices of the Odd Fellows. Scores of friends of the deceased and of the family were present to pay their re spects to the memoiy of a gixxl man and citizen. The remains were interred in the family plat on the Risley place. Mrs. Carl llelser. Mrs. Carl Heiser died at Damasciix last Friday alter a lingering illness of a Ikjii t eight months. Her death was caused by cancerous tumor and she was bedfast seven weeks prior t her death. Mrs. Heiser came to the United States from Germany In 1880. Her Inn-band and seven children preceded, her in dealh. She is survived by three soni: Fritz H. Heiser, Otto F. Heiser and Robert (.'. Heiaei. The latter is a vet eran of tbe Spanish-American war and was with Co. I, Second Oregon Volun. teers, in the Philippines. The funeral of the deceased was held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon and the interment was 111 the Damascus cemetery. He was a member of Oswego Lodge, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, under whose am pices the funeral was conducted.
