Vaacoi-vta, B. C. Feb. 10. The crest of a mountain whose top ia more than a mile in cirromffence elid into Lough borough Inlet, 100 miles north from Vsucoaver last .Saturday. The great lid. was caused by an earthquake, which abook tbe surrounding district! for several secondn, and the molting shock of tbe falling mountain top could be flt a long distance away. The mountain which fell waa com posed of a great crag, which overhung the shore and an enormous slice of it sheered off into ths bay. Tbe break extended back 4H0 feet from tbe ahors. Giant trees and immense boulder were carried away by the slide. A heavy aea waa caused and a tidal wave swept down the inlet. Several small boats, three miles swsy, were thrown np into ths woods, and two boo tut of logs ready to be aent to market in Vancouver were thrown out of the water and practically wrecked. Mrs. lUmm Hudson, wife of John Hudson, a saloon-keeper at Millwood 14 miles north of here, was shot snd instantly killed last night daring a raid upon her boa band's saloon. Hudson had been warned to close his saloon, but refused. A boot ten o'clock three men entered tbe place and called for dilnks. When aerved they rapped on the counter and gave a aignal.
