the Aimes Glee club in the sweetest of
tones sang that song so dear to all hearts,
"My Country 'tin of Thee." Miss Jessie
tiiblions. one of Sandy's most talented
young ladies read the Declaration of In
dependence In a most charming manner,
hong. "Soldiers Farewell" by Aimes
Glee club. Then with a few appropriate
remarks Mr. E. F. Bruns introduced
the Hon. Uordon E. Hayes, orator of the
day, who was received with great enthu
aiasm and who delivered an oration
which was appreciated by the people
more than any speech ever delivered at
Sandy on such an occasion.
Mr. Hayes spoke in part;
"Of the great deal we owe to our fore
father who made it possible for us to
lire 'Death the Stars and Stripes, and
enjoy the freedom and liberty for which
they fought.

off very quietly it was rather damp, but
that did not stop the string of people gi
ing to Hubbard to celebrate. All seemed
to enjoy them selves.
The ball and backet supper at the hall
was well attended, there being about 75
present and the baskets were ail sold, the
highest brought $2 00.
Several Needyitea attended camp meet
ing at Canby Sunday.
tteorge Atkins excepted a place in the
mills at Oregon City and is back to his
old job again.

at Portland and spent the remainder of
the week with relatives.

Our late supervisor ended up his term

Our store keeper has turned out to lie a

Rorn, July 5, to the wife of Andy Reer,
a pair of twin girls, one only lived a short
time the other and the mother both doing
well.
There will be camp meeting at Rear
Creek camp grounds next Sunday.
