To the Board of Trade of Or gon City, Gentlemen : Youi.road committee), to which waa referred certain resolutions, presented by Hon. C. II. Dye at a meet ing held In tho court house on the even ing of February 14th, l'.XW, desire tore port as follows: Your committee met pursuant to a call of the chairman on February 20, MOO. and after considering the matters referred to In the resolution above men tioned, conclude, that the subject of wagon toads in Clackamas county is paramount. Your committee favors the improvement in a permanent manner of every wagon road in tho county, giving due preference to the trunk lines leading from tho county seat, and tapping the largest sections of outlying territory, and which will at once bring in the largest amount of business and make it tribu tary to the county seat. As to the particular project under con sideration, namely, the road loading from Oregon City to Logan, and from Oregon City to Eaglo Creek, both by way ol the Hatchery bridge, your com mittee finds that this is an important road leading Irom tho county seat and ac commodates a largo number ol residents ol this county. We therefore deem it of enough Importance to justify tho county court in appropriating an amount ol money equal to any amounts which may ha subscribed bv the people Interested in I tho tinnrovemont of said road. We also recommend that all tuWrlptlona intdo payable lo the coun'y court and that the work mi onder lU auiiervlalon. Wo alao recommend Uiat the court cauao to bo made an ealiinalo of tho coat of tho propoMsl improvement to that an Idea may he bad of tho probable coot of each of the Ihreo am.-tlont ol tho proponed road. We alao reromrnend the adoption of (he reaolution alwve referrel to aa re gard the appointment of a eomrriltb-e of aeven of the heit ruatlert lo Oregon City to aolicit aubacri.liorie, avJviM and co-operate with (ho county court, and wlththocltiMnaof the other aectiona of the county tributary to tblf road and from time to time report to thit board. It was also shown that the people ali over the county want to trade iu Oregon City ; that the trip to Portland Is too far, occasions staying over night and is killing on a team.
