Saturday on their return home to Liberty,

the sights at these various places. The

I am In favor of the road projected
from the southern end of the town. It
would be worth many timet It cost,
both to thn city and county, a it would
open up a scope ol territory now practic
ally liiiii-iesilile. Oregon City should
be the best market In the state for wood,
wheat and timber, with good roads lead
Ing out In every direction, butlnes
would be stimulated and inrrnaaed. I
sincerely hops that tiolitical condition
may not be allowed to stand In the way
of tills or any other legitimate road
project. The city authorities will meet
the county court hall way, and with the
subscription of private parties already
pledged, there should be no failure.

In looking over the correspondence In
the enterprise in regard to the proposed
rotd in the south end of Oregon City,
I notice that Senator Geo. C. Itrownell
estimates the county's part at from
$10,00 to 2H,000. At the request of
rime of the leading parties interested, I
went oyer the piopoaed rosd. and found
1.330 feet within the city limits, and
about one mils outside of the city which
the county would have to build.
Now, I will make a definite proposition
for the county's pjrt. I will grade the
entire road-bed, 10 feet wide, on a six
per rent, grsdn, with stone culverts at
water courses, tnd neceasary ditches on
upiierside to proerIy drsin road-bed,
for $3,03) and give a good and sufficient
bond lo build said road according to the
Meldrum survey and profile, which I
have carefully examined.
Mysteries Dlaappearaoee.
Any Information that would lead to
the whereabouts of lien Hendrickson,
whoso mysteriously disappeared from
bis home at Mount Pleahant, on the
night of Feb. 15, will be kindly received
by lila relatives and friends.
Mrs. Hendrickson tells the story of bis
disappearance a follow s :
"About 7:30 o'clock last Thursday
evening Mr. Hendrickson started for his
brother's house, which Is but a short
distance, to procure an incubator. At 11
o'clock be had nut returned and becom
ing alarmed, I went to see what had de
tained him. Ascertaining he had not
been there, we at once instituted a dili
gent search, yialling the residents of the
community, but could find absolutely no
trace of him."
Sheriff Cook and Chief Hums were no
tified, but as yet have been unable to
trace him any further than Brown's
school house. Foul play ia Dot expected
aa he had no money on bis person at the
time of his disappearance. He bad com
plained recently of severe pains in his
bead, and it is thought that while in a
leneiited condition, he wandered away.

about 5 feet 7 inches in height, weight
150 pounds, short grayish beard, dark
complexloned, attired in duck coat, blue
overall, slouch hat and heavy shoes;
about 63 years old.
