Tin democrats of Marion county have had all the fusion they want. With the brethren here it is different as they flatter themselves that all of the demo crats and populists will follow any aggre gation gotten together for the purpose of carrolling the officers. All the men in the rouuty are not after the oil'icea and these men do not see why they should follow a crowd that avowedly has noth ing to bring tbem together except the loaves and fishes. This "independent" movement is run by leaden that do not agree on finance, tariff or the course the government should take with our recently acquired possessions. But then they want the offices and the voter will be urgently requested to support this mixture for the sake of the gang that want places. The navy is of great help in the Luson campaign, Wilson and anti-Wilson is the tight In Washington politics, A ten foot ledge of gold bearing qunrts is found about 30 miles south west of The Dalles. When frrruers can sell sheep for $5 50 per head there should bs no great objec tion on their part to the condition of the country. A flock of sheep was sold at this price at Independence. The democratic committee of Pa., has named Bryan for president. This is the first instance of the kind in the history of the state and looks as if Bryan's friends were tryirg hard to set up the start in iliat Plate. The house of representatives adopted the report of the majority of the com mittee and reiusedRobeits, the polyga tnist his feat by a vote of 268 to 50, The result was received with cheers and the American people will assent, with a tiger. The bodies of fifteen soldiers of the Second Oregon arrived in San Francisco and will probably be buried at Portland where a monument will be erected. The Oregonian has about $10,000 for this purpose. The question of where the burial will take place will be decided by relutives, but if they could all he buried at one place it would be better and a more fitting monument erected. Observes that democratic journal, the Little Rock Gazette: " 'Expansion doesn't appear to be a party question in Alabama, Arkansas and Tennessee, where prominent demo crats are advocatiuir it.' says the Searcy Times. No; not strictly a party ques tion now, but atone time it was, and for many years the popular policy of the democratic party. At one time the United States consisted only of a small strip on the Atlantic coast, but through democratic influence the territory was expanded until now we are recognized as the greatest and most powerful nation in the world." This is well put. But the Gazette might have added tiiat those who claim to be the leaders of the democn tic party now are doing their best to make ex pansion a party question, to the profit alone of the republicans. r V Krfr iOi ift rO,. When sleep no longer restores the exhausted nature, the struggle with disease cannot last long. The starting point of the nervous dis orders which produce ill health and sleeplessness, is generally a diseased condition of the womanly organs. Re store these organs to sound health and the appetite comes back, the day s work no longer wearies, aud sleep is sound and refreshing. Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescription cures diseases of the wom anly organs. It stops the drain-rthich weaken women ; it heals the inflamma tion and ulceration, and cures female weakness. There is no alcohol in Favorite Pre scription" and it is entirely free from opium, cocaine and all other narcotics. It is a temperance medicine.
