Mr. Tucker, of Springwater, passed through here one day last week soliciting orders for the Salem nursery. Henry Ointher is limping around with a sprained leg, having been thrown from a horse. Eugene Cumins has moved on his pUce again. Mr. Jack Wallace, of Highland, spent today with friends here. Willie Hornschuh, of Cams, visited bis brother E. W. Hornschuh toJay, Mr. Reeeon and family spent the day with Mr and Mrs. Wesley Hill of Reaver Creek. W'm. Martin and family, ol Beaver Creek, came up and spent the afternoon with his father-in-law, Mr. II. Anson. ChtrryTtll. Cukrky villi, Aug. 13. M. Frmsier, who haa Wen helping W. E. Welch with his hay, haa returned home and reports that Mr Welch haa nearly eighty ton of hay in the barn. Mr. Frasier will re turn in a short time to help put in the rtst. There ia about twenty camps of people there from various pails of the country. The young people enjoy them selves by picking terries, fhhing, romping over the mountains and dancing twice a week. Mr. Frasier also reorta many Warm Spring Indians in the mountains. G. T, Beebe ia cutting his grain. Mrs. Endersby and children and Mrs. Kearney was the guests of Mrs. Baty A grand reception was given to the Thursday. Milwaukie volunteers, who served with the Second Oregon iu the I'hilippine Expedition, at Milwaukie on Wednes day. The weather was not favorable but a large crowd turned out to greet the brave boys. Mr. T. R. S. Sellwood bad charge ol the progiam and Miss Hone Scott the dinner which was rerved up to date in every respect. Miss Sc6tt ia noted for her geniousin managing large receptions, County Commissioner Kit-hard Sett roasted the beef which was suitable for a Queen's taste. The speaker of the aftemson was Lieut. J. U. Campbell, of Oregon City. At tie o'clock the program postponed until after dinner which was t te drawing card of the day. After din ner the program was resumed com mencing with music furnished by the 6. P. car shop brass band, of Portland The music was excellent and the band is to be complimented upon the good be havior of its members. Hon. Geo. C. Brownell was the speaker of the evening. Many songs, recitations and speeches were indulged in during the evening. Those worthy of special notice were Hon Geo. C. Brow nell, Lient. J. U, Camp bell and 2nd Lieut. Martin all of Oregon City. After the crowd had left some of the boys got up a dance and the merri inent went on, thus ended one of the successful receptions of the season. htaffcrd. Stafford, Ang. 1J. Some men w ho own binders are cutting at for 85 cents an acre and furnish their 0 rn twine. C. W. Larson contemplates renting a j'm this fall. Charley Dart is in Sherman county Wages good. Earnest Russell is back from Eastern Oregon. He is hauling logs for Baitby Bros. Saw Mill Co. Freda Dart has been to Portland to have her eyes treated. She returned home Monday. Mrs. Emily Dart wan a caller at the home of A. J. Sawtell's Tuesday of last week. Teasel Cutting is in full blat with rather a quiet and industrious crowd at work. The teasels are rather a light crop this year; a good many plants are misHing. Harliss and Shaver are fixing up their thresher and will thresh for John Stewart Tuesday. Uncle Jake Harliss has bought another piece of Molalla proerty This time the P. W. Herman place has fell into Uncle Jake's possession, He now ha nearly a whole street. Faith in Molalla dirt is sure to make a handsome little village here yet. Some Advent preachers have pitched their tent in our midst and will hold services Sunday. Rev. Craig preached in the Harliss Hall, Molalla, Sunday. The Grange at Mulino Saturday was success. Dr. Canto and his son were present. The son has just returned from the land of the Filipino's and gave the grangers an interesting and inntruct- ive talk on the inlands, people, etc. Henry RuhhcII was in Molalla during the past week.
