cf the bill section around Eagle Creek
have been very busy plowing for the last
few days; preparing for spring crops.
The Maccabees, of Eagle Creek gave
a social hop at Wilburn's hall Friday
night. There was a large attendance
and all a-emed to enjoy themselves.
Mr. Hoffaiister made a business trip
to Portland last week.
Jesse Douglass left home Friday for
Wasco county where he is going to work
lor his brothers, who is running a Urge
wheat farm.
Mr. Cahill, our sinning teacher, has
lour classes now so he is kept quite busy.
Elders Morehouse and Lewis held
services at Dover yesterday. Several
lrom Eagle Creek attended the service.
James DeShazerand family, of Dover,
were the guests of J. W. Douglass and
wife, yesterday.
II. F. Gibson and wife went to George
yesterday to visit fiiends.
Miss Cora Gibson, accompanied by

During the month ol January 80 deeds,
47 mortgages and 50 releases ol mortga
ges were filed in the county recorder's
oflire. During January, lS'JS, 73 deeds,
47 mortgages and 42 releases ol mortga
ges were filed. There is a marked in
crease in the number ol real estate
transfers for this month, the majority o
the sales being farm property and small
tracts. Another indication of improved
condications is the unusual number ol
releases ol mortgsges filed at the begin
ning of the new year. The receipts lor
the month in the recorder's olfice were
1103.05, and in the clerk's office 171.
