The session lasted just 100 minutes, and in that time three new iills were introduced, one of them being read first, second and third time and passed. Twenty-nine other bills were .read second time, and referred to the proper committees. Five messages from the house were disposed of, and while doing this amount of business the roll of .30 members was called 34 separate times. !.This shows what it is to have a good pre-,-aiding officer in the chair, which the . senate certainly haa in the person of .Joe Simon. Darini this Msaion Senator Porter in "troducedhia first bill No. 61. This bill relates to the publication of services of summons. The house got to work about 2 o'clock and 12 new bills were added to the list swelling the number to -19. making the total for both houses 112. Six bills were read second time and referred to committees, when an adjournment was taken until Tuesday. This evening a caucus was held, 30 republicans being present. 31 voting for Corbett. At 10 o'clock Tuesday, after the roll call, the first open ballot will be taken by each Lou6e separately, and then in joint con vention each day at 12 nntil an election is bad. Tuesday. The roll having been called in the senate, a motion prevailed to at once proceed to the election of United States senator. Eulogistic speeches were made by different members in presenting the following names: M. C. George, 6 votes; Corbett. 13: H. II. Hewitt, 1, Robert Akin, 1; George H. Williams, 1;A. g. Bennett, 6; W. W. Colton, 1. Geo. C. Brownell in a very eloquent address, presented the name of Colton nd voted for him. Porter voted for Corbett. The house took a ballot during the morning session for senator which re sulted in Corbet receiving 23, making a total of 30, lacking 10 of majority ; M. C George, 10, total 16 ; A. S. Bennet, 16, total 22; the balance of the vote was scattering. Hon. C. B, Moores was noticed this morning watching the proceedings of the .bouse and anxiously watching the vote ior United States senator. Judge Ryan is in the city looking after legislative matters.
