The work of re organixalion was somew hat slow, owing to the strict lines followed in accepting recruits, but about sixty men have now signed the company roll book and are anxiously awaiting auch Instructions as will eriiiit of permanent organisation. For aome dsys the boys have gathered every evening at the armory and old members have faithfully drilled the men seeking enlistment. The recruits show a determination to master the drill and manuel of arms that aesures Oregon City she will be as proud of the new company as of the old one. Frank Hall recited, "The Flag " Miss Jennie Rowen told how she teaches physiology. She follows the lecture plan, requiring a great deal of written work by the pupils. Edith Tylor recited "The Old Man Dodge." llulda Kanne rondered a recitation in German. Miss Gertrude Finley offered resolu tions of thanks to the teachers and pa trons of the Harmony school. T. J. But the big majority returned in Multnomah county removed tbe element of doubt from (he election. The latest returna show that (ieer leads King by SS77 for governor; Dunbar is 5072 ahead of Kin caid, and Ackerman IsSWO ahead of Lyman . Geer's majority will be 10,000, nd probably more. All the candidates on the Republican state ticket have large majorities.
