The several fire companies responded quickly, considering the fact that most of the members were at their hoinea and soon had a number of streams playing upon the fire. All the machinery and apparatus waa totally destroyed, together with a large amount of raw material and chemicals used in dyeing. The losa falls heavily on the company just at thia lime sinc-i they were runnlnu ni(ht and day in their endeavor to fill ordera and thia will delay them very materially. The mill will lie abut down next week and the work of rebuilding the structure commenced. The company will also put in new water wheels during the abut down. During the administration of 8. U. Green aa chief of the tire department, the council purchased "50 feet of "Live Oak" bote, and whenever fire occura there is always a scramble among the firemen aa to who ahull have thia hose.
