Ed Fortune, the well-known hone man, is located at Irvington race track with a stable of fast horses, getting them ready for the Montana races. W. A. Starkweather of Concord, one of the early settlers of Clackamas county and at one time register of the land office in this city was in Oregon City Monday. Mr. and Mrs. F. Chancey Barney, who taught a very succesful term of school at Damascus last winter, left Monday for Louisville, Polk county, where he will spend the summer with his parents. Capt. J. T. Apperson, chairman of the board of regents of the Agricultural col lege, returned from Corvallis Tuesday, where he had been on business con nected with the college. Dr. and Mrs. R. S. Partlow expect to leave soon for Eastern Oregon, where they will remain for some time. Thev have offered their home for rent, notice of which appears elsewhere. Rev C. A. Willey went to Forest Grove Saturday evening returning Mon day evening, he visiting that place to assist Rey B. F. Smalley in a reviyal meeting which he is conducting. Mrs. S. M. McCown, department com mander for Oregon of the Women's Re lief Corps, returned home Tuesday from an extended yisit throughout the state In the interest of that organization. Rev. Oilman Parker, the Baptist state missionary, returned from Grant's Pass Tuesday and went to Gale's Creek near Forest Grove this morning to participate in a recognition council for the new Bap tint church at that place. Miss Neita Hickman, who has been sick and in the hospital in Portland for some weeks past has so far regained her champion haimiiar thrower and the champion in piitlingof-the-Hhot, In the college.
