Deafness is caused by an inflamed con dition of the mucous lining of the Eusta chian Tube. When this tube gets in flamed you have a rumbling sound or imperfect bearing, and when it is entirely closed Deafness is the result, and unless the inflammation can be taken out and this tube restored to its normal con dition, hearing will be lost forever; niue cases out of ten are caused by ca tarrh, which is nothing but an inflamed condition of the mucous surfaces. You have been informed that the "Ministciial Association of Ore gon City" has taken up the matter fori investigation, you also know that lam not only willing but really anxious to; have this matter investigated, why then do you refuse to submit the matter to this body for investigation? Will you dare to assume that this body is not com IK'tent to investigate there matters? Whv do you refuse to meet me in Oregon City? Wtiere can I find a better place to prove my character than here, w here I have labored for the last two and one half years? If there is any truth in your assertion, then Oregon City is the place where the proof must be found. But now you dny that you hare any thing to do with the slanderous attack on mv character in the"E.NTKRi'aisK" of the ; 6th of March, in answer to which my communication appeared. This attack was signed by your president, Rev. 8. II. Mollvnaur from Spokane, Wash. He also denies that he has anything to do with it. You all know that it was pub lished in various secular papers, and you have denied it. But now since you are called to account before the good people of Clackamas county, you disown this poor child, born out of the inmost desires of your heart. Now this little falsifier which appeared in Clackamas county on March 6th, with Rev. S. N. Mollenaurs's name attached toil, boldly proclaiming to the world that I should be "a tlior- I oughlv unreliable character" must be disowned. Now this little falsifier must be cut out fatherless, motherless, disowned by its legal parents, whoever they may be, wandering along by the roadside a poor orphan and dying in despair. Is it not cruel to be so heartless? You say you are not willing to prove before an impartial committee of Lutherans, who officially wish to investigate, that the final judgment of your president is cor rect I Yo refused to ever attempt to do this before tbe council of my church, at Oregon City, and also before the Minis terial Association and I firmly believe that you are afraid to give a committee of Lutherans outside of our own synod, an opportunity to investigate this matter and to inspect the history of your dis trict. But in order to give you an op portunity to keep your promise or to prove to the world, that you are afraid to submit to an investigation, I will tender tl is offer. I will acknowledge tha Lu theran pastors of Portland, excluding those belonging to your synod, as inves tigation committee, I will lay my char acter open to be attacked, and I will expect the accusing party to do the same, especially the history of your Washington district must be laid open to investigation. Further on, I will agree to abide by the results of this in vestigation and they must then, also be published in all those papers in which the attack on my character was pub' belied. This offer is certainly very reas onable, and you thus receive a good op portunity to proye to the world that you er's cl 3.0IW J C Samson to M C Samson Mar 2S 'S3 W Ds of ti '4 sec I I t 5 s, r 1 i 7M) V A Avery to C D Covey Juu 10 !K W I) ti a in see 4 I 4 s, r I 1,000 X S Kellogg to Narcissa Kellogg Mar SI '1'ti W 1) lots 15 and 10 blk 13 O I A S Co ud 100 X rtiuruian C M Assn to II It Muikjossel Aug 10 'Ifi W D lots 12, 1:1 and 14 blk 3 Oak drove .
