"Composition work," was ably han dled by P. M. Wedell. Composition should be one of the moat delightful studies in school work. If properly taught, it is most pleasant and profitable. Pupils should be required to accurately describe something lumiliar to them. It is necessary to have some knowledge of composition to write an intelligent letter. Mr. Wedell's paper was very in teresting and instructive. "Psychology" was the subject assigned to A. (J. Strange. teachers have a tendency to idealize work, they under take to look forward to an ideal state of all'airs. Psychology may be described as self-development. One whose mind is trained, whose ideas run in certain channels, can certainly accomplish more in certain lines, than one whose mind is untrained. As the brain grows, the mind grows. Let us, as consciencious teachers, make a daily study of our own natures and try to improve them. Will power is the greatest faculty of the mind. Every time we resolve on following a certain course, and because we encoun ter ditliculties, give it up, we weaken our power ot will. 'Do right because it is right.' " Mr. Durette and Mr. Har greaves also spoke on this subject. "Needed school legislation," was the subject assigned to T. J. Gary. He is opposed to the Normal schools being supported by the state. If a young man has energy and brains enough to be a good school teacher, he has brains and energy enough to earn money to pay his way. He thought the possession of a state certificate or dioloma should be i considered a great honor, but when peo-! pie who could scatcely obtain a third or second grade county certificate could bv J some means obtain a state diploma, one j Highest of all in Leavening Power.
