extremely funny. He is a natural come
dian and his familiarity with the lines
on a part of bis character, is all that is
necessary, his stage presence being easy
and natural. V, Harris, as foreman of
the jury was good and as Chalks, the
milkman, created a good deal of merri
ment by his unceasing lo.-e for Penelope
through thick and this. His pleasing
baas voice was heard to good advantage
in both parts. E. F. Driggi as the
prosecuting attorney was good and
managed his jury in a very becoming

wreaths of flowers and the chorus of
ladies and gentlemen showed good train
ing in their work. Prof. Adrain Epping
came from Portland on Monday night to
assist and was well received. He rend
ered a selection from Carmen in flue
style and responded to a hearty encore.
D. E. Shepard, a tardy juryman, sang
the popular solo, "Paradise Alley" to
the great delight of the audience, which
insisted upon an encore. Mr. Vm.
Wright's solo wag well rendered and
very funny. Mr. A. A. Askin, one of
the missing jurymen, proved himself to be
clever comedian and his acting created a
good deal of amusement. Mr. Askin
also acted as stage manager and
prompter to the entire satisfaction of all
concerned.

The petition of school distr ict No. 47,
lor the delinquent taxes sold to county,
was denied.
