The Oregon City Ministerial Associa tion held a meeting Tuesday afternoon, and arranged plans for the union gos pel service, which is to be held in the city next week. Rev. M. L. Rugg will have charge of the services, and will be assisted by the other ministers in the city. The first of the seriei of meetings will begin at the Baptist church next Sunday evening. A quiet wedding took place at the Presbyterian parsonage last Saturday. The contracting parties were E. A. Leighton, one of the popular employes of the Gereral Electric Company, and Miss Eva Bates, for some time past con nected with lhe Electric hotel, and the ceremony was solemnized by Rev. A. J. " Montgomery. Mr. and Mrs. Leighton ' bare received the congratulations of ' many friends, and are now at home in the Moore house on Fifth street. The young people of the Epworth League of the Methodist church have embarked in the publication of a monthly paper, the Falls City Leagner, devoted to the interests of their league and the Methodist church. The general man agement of is in the hands of Rev. S. W. Stryker,to whose energy and indefatigable work, the success of the venture is largely due. The editorial work is in the hands of Rev. Stryker, E. E. Martin, Kittie Taine and W. L. Moore, and the business management will be looked after bv B. M Doolittle, E. J. Maple, W. C. Kirby and Miss Mamie Aldrich. The executive committee of the Ore gon Cuy Christian Endeavor Union, composed of three members each ol the Baptist, Congregational and Presbyte riaa societies, held a meeting last Sun I day afternoon, and elected the following ' officers for the ensueng year: G. II. VBestow, president; W. G. Beattie, vice-oresident; Mrs. A. S. Dresser, sec retary; A. Robertson, treasurer. They will soon begin actie preparations for the state endeavor convention, which , meets here in May. Miss Florence I'aqiiet, who left this city some time since to try California climate fur her health, is very much improved and is much pleased with the country and the place where she is stay ing, uear Oakland. Firman Busbee, the teacher of the May school in the Beaver creek country, came to Oregon City Monday wearing a biack eye. He swore out a warrant for the arrest of young Inskeep, one of his pupils, charging him with malicious as sault. He had attempted to correct young Inskeen tor some violation ol school rules, when the latter brought his fist with athletic force atcainst one ol the pedagogue's eyes. Inskeep was to have had a hearing before Justire Sch ubel, of Mink precinct on Tuesday. The printed rejsirt of the work of tho state board of equalization has been re ceived at the county clerk's office. The following changes were made in the Clackamas county assessment roll: Agricultural lands were reduced 7 per cent, horses 20 per cent and cuttle 10 per cent, while merchandise and imple ments were raiseel 20 per cent The state levy has been raised four mills. The McMinnville Telephone-Register is authority for the statement that Hon. William Galloway is a probable sue 3U8or to Hon. Peter Paquet as receiver of the Oregon City land office. Mr. Pa quet's term of office expires in Febru ary, and democratic candidates for the position are looming up in every direc tion. A. F. Chapman, ono of the leaileis among the young republicans of Klliott's Prairie and president of the Lincoln republican club of that place was in Oregon City Tucsduy and was a caller at the Entkki'kimk office.
