The attendance during the first part ol the month wan not ho regular as might be winded, though now there is no ground for complaint on this score, aud the intercut on the part of the pupils aoeina to be genuine and ifl resulting in faithful work. We lack reference hooka, 8 it ii not poaaible for pupils to do a thorough and exhaustive work na is dis irable, yet with our new Internationp. Encyclopedia, which w ill be in place in a short time, we feel that the reference library ia established and will grow to be all the achool may need. The list of visitor in not a long one, yet we are great fill that ao many have found their way to the achool building and trust that otue ftiember of etry family repre sented in the achool may come and nee wlia is being done. Pupils are more entlitiHiaetic in their woik when they see that parents are sulTiciently interested I to visit the school. We summarize as I follows for September: C. W. C. W. Di'bbkttk, Principal. LIST OF TKACHKltS AND SCHOOLS. Below is given the names of the teachers now in charge of schools in Clackamas county together with the number of the districts and the names of the clerks with their postoflice address. The list as will be seen is not quite com plete, a in some of the districts school has not yet commenced while in other cases Sutierintendent Gibson has been unable to pecure the name of the teacher. Owing to there being no law compelling district clerks or teachers to report w hen school begins in a district it has been a tedious mutter to prepare this list and it has required considerable time on the part of Su jt. Gibson to make it up- It would not be much of an eflbrt on the part of the teachers to notify the superin tendent as to where and when they are to teach, so that at all times he could have an accurate list of all the districts having teachers, thus enabling him to know what districts were not supplied. By keeping such a list much time could be saved tho teachers in looking for posi tions as well as annoyance to the school board in replying to applications after a teacher had been secured. Another ad vantage would be that the superinten dent would know when the various schools would begin, and could arrange his visits so as to avoid loss of time in traveling over the county.
