Cliiiiituiiqua Notes
Prosi?ctB for the Chautauqua continue
to increase in interest. Tho program
will be pulilisbed entire next weok.
The auditorium is rising like a great
amphitheatre ready to welcome ita
thousands. A meeting of stockholders
to ratify proceedings is called for June
25, at 2 p. m., in the county court room.
Inquiries for rooms and board are com
ing in, It has been suggested that the
same committee that arranged for the
entertainment of the G. A. It. people,
be reqn -stod to hand their lists to the
Chautauqua people to save unnecessary
delay. Any others who can board
Chautauqua visitors are requested to re
port to Mrs. C. II. Dye at once.
This, seems to be the year of great
success. All the state conventions have
had unparalleled attendance, and tho
Cliautauquans expect no less.
A very pleasant ice cream social was
given at the residence of Mr. and Mrs.
W. A. White last Friday evening, under
the auspices of Mrs. E. B. Andrews'
Sunday school class of the Congregational
church. The rainy weather prevented
the announced lawn social, but the
parlors of the dwelling were filled with
a merry crowd, who whiled the time
away in gamoB and music . Organ solos
were acceptably rendered by Misses
Marks and Jean White, and Mr. and Mrs.
Charles favored the guests with a guitar
and organ duet. Ice cream, cake
and strawberries were served and the
social proved a success in every way.
Several Oregon City people attended
the commencement exercises at the
Baptist church in McMinnville last week
and among them were W. Carey John
son, president of the board, D. C. Lat
ourette, a member of the board, Mrs. L.
C. Driggs, Rev. M. L. Rugg, J. W.
Lotler and Lyman Latourotte. Mrs.
Driggs remains a few days to visit rela
tives and to attend a W. C. T. U. con
